dynamics of dance

Dynamics of Dance provides energetic performances by Rock School dancers to underserved Philadelphia-area school children.  The interactive assemblies are designed to inspire those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to see high-quality, culturally enriching performances. Children are invited to share the stage with Rock School dancers to learn basic ballet terminology and positions.  It is the “children reaching children” component of RockReach. Through Dynamics of Dance, The Rock School reaches over 26,000 Philadelphia children annually and demonstrates that with hard work, perseverance and passion, young people are capable of reaching incredible goals.

Talented Rock School dancers share their passion through Dynamics of Dance assemblies. Traveling to inner-city schools throughout Philadelphia, the dancers provide inspiration to at-risk youth by offering creative opportunities in dance that many of these children would not otherwise receive.

Roger Lee hosts the interactive assemblies, sparking excitement and curiosity through lessons in dance terminology, technique, and performance.  Roger begins by emphasizing the importance of stretching while the dancers demonstrate how they prepare for ballet class everyday.  An interactive session allows RockReach children to join Rock dancers on stage to experience several ballet positions and steps.  Rock dancers then take the stage in an exciting performance highlighting their talents and expertise.  The assemblies close with an exclusive Q&A, giving RockReach children an opportunity to talk directly with Rock School dancers from all over the world.  RockReach children are astonished to hear of their diverse origins.

For Philadelphia schools with limited space, there is an alternative option to hold Dynamics of Dance assemblies at The Rock School where children will experience a tour of professional dance studios; meet talented teaching artists by participating in a master class where they will learn ballet positions, steps and terminology; and see an exciting in-studio performance by Rock dancers, followed by an exclusive Q&A.
